Fernando Po Creole is one of the names under which the English-lexicon Creole of Bioko Island (formerly known under its colonial name Fernando Po) is known. However, speakers of the language use the designation Pichi or Pichinglis for their language (Yakpo 2009; Lipski 1992).
The language is an offshoot of the Krio language of Sierra Leone, and was brought to Bioko by Krios who immigrated to the island during the colonial era in the 19th century.
